Mother’s touch to a baby poses very powerful effect in growth and development. It is always an emotional touch filled with love, care and affection. With a simple touch of parents, baby feel secure and happy. At the same time it also gives soothing effect and strengthen your baby. Massage is very effective way with the help of which you not only gives lovely touch to your infant but also leads to growth and development. But for newly mother it’s quite difficult task due to lack of knowledge about Infant Baby Massage moves. So, let us discuss about all moves which you can following while infant kneading.

How to do Infant Baby Massage?

Start with Legs: The first step starts with the feet of baby. Take some oil and rub on the soles of baby. Start from heels and moves up to the toes by rubbing with your thumbs and palms. Never try to pull or jerk any finger or toe as you do for yourself. Rubbing feet then move to legs and lift one of the leg with one hand and then move another hand to baby’s legs from ankle to thigh and then repeat this procedure downwards. You can massage both the legs separately or both at a time.

Arms Massage: Next step is to select the hand for kneading. The process is very much similar to legs as performed above. Again you have to lift one hand and then start a gentle stroke in upward direction from wrist to forearms and then upperarms with your palms. Do massaging in both circular motion and straight motion. Also give strokes towards fingers.

Shoulder Massage: Now it’s time to shoulder. Start from any left or right shoulder and moves towards chest by gently rubbing from palm. Repeat this process reverse.

Chest Massage: Make gentle massage strokes in heart shape with your palm on your baby’s chest.

Tummy Massage: Then move towards tummy doing circular massage in clockwise direction without giving much pressure as it is delicate area.

Face Massage: Massaging of face will be quite difficult and be very careful. Start with your index finger placing at centre of forehead and moving towards chin in circular motion.

Head Massage: It’s quite easier one among all baby massage moves. You just have to take some oil and rub on head with your fingertips as you do shampoo. Take care that pressure is not applied.

Back Massage: Last infant baby massage moves you have to follow is back massage. Turn around your baby on his tummy downward and then start rubbing with your fingers and then with palm. Apply rub strokes from upper back to buttocks in clockwise direction.

Perfect Age for Infant Baby Massage to Start

There is no perfect age bar defined when to start a baby massage or when to stop it. However, you can start it after your baby is about four to six weeks old. Meanwhile, you will also be able to understand the newly motherhood tasks or responsibilities and able to enjoy it perfectly.

Best Time to do Baby Massage

Again, there is no time strict time defined to do baby massage. You can do it by observing at which time period your infant is enjoying the massage and ready for it. In this way make a regular routine and your baby will start liking it very much. Though, you can do it in the morning after baby shower or before you feed. Doing baby massage at bedtime is also considered as best because it calm down your infant and gives soothing effect which leads to sound sleep.

How Many Times Baby Massage is done?

It is advised by doctors that you do massage at regular basis and at least 2 times a day. It also depends how much time you are getting to do it and your baby concern.

Best Baby Massage Oils

However, several types of baby oils are available in the market but you must be aware which one best suits your baby. As per my opinion, Olive oil is best infant Massage oil which you can use for your infant kneading. Apart from this, you can also go for Almond Oil, Mustard Oil, Coconut Oil and Castor Oil etc. But you must check which one best suits your baby and not creating any type of irritations or skin rashes because as you know infant skin is very sensitive.
